Everyone likes a nibble of cheese and there are hundreds of different types of cheese from various countries being produced. Their styles, textures and flavors depend on the origin of the milk, whether they have been pasteurized, the butterfat content, the bacteria and mold, the processing, and aging. Herbs, spices, or wood smoke may be used as flavoring agents. Who doesn't like a cheeseboard at the end of a wonderful meal?
Taking the wedding cake market by storm are these new style cheese cakes! Not to be confused with the desset cheesecake, these aren't cakes at all. They are layers of different cheeses made up to look just like a wedding cake! They can be dressed in flowers or berries depending on the look you are going for. The wedding cake can also compliment your wedding table plan.
I have always liked quirky things and I think it's the cutest thing in the world to see a wedding cheese cake covered in mice, it just adds that little extra touch that brings a smile to your face. The mice could be edable or just ornimental, either way they really do look fab. As anyone who has a cheeseboard regularly knows, grapes and chutney really compliment the cheese. You can have a seperate table full of extras and condiments that will compliment your choice of cheeses.
Cheese is naturally a beautiful looking food, with so many types you can pretty much choose any colour to help make the "cake" fit in with your wedding theme. Why not pop into your local deli and ask for a list of fancy colourful cheeses that they supply. I always find that going on Pinterest helps me when I'm looking for inspiration for something. Google is also another tool you can use to help you find the look you are going for. Buying the cheeses isn't going to be cheap but the entire cake will no doubt cost much less than a real wedding cake. This is something you can do yourself or pay someone to do for you, but in my mind I like to do as many things for myself as I can. The surrounding table can be dressed too, if you are having a winter/christmas theme you can add little wooden characters to help make the scene look super cute (I'm all about little creatures) these again can be handmade or brought whichever is your preference.
Here is a list of cheeses that I think compliment each other beautifully.
- Shropshire Blue
- Bewdley Blue
- Sage Derby
There are many companies that sell special heart shaped cheeses too, all these little touches add magic to your day!
We have a unique cheese wedding table plan, this can be customised to suit your needs, simply place your order online and then send us your list of required cheeses.
