Hello Disney fellow fans! Ever since I was a wee little girl, Disney has been a huge part of my life! My parents first took me to Florida when I was 10 years old and I have been fortunate to go back almost every year since. Magic Kingdom was of course my favourite theme park, every year we returned; there was always a new ride or something even better! I have been designing and creating wedding table plans for 7 years now and I have finally managed to create my dream Disney seating plan.
It took a while as I knew it needed to be perfect! With the world of Diseny there are so many different avenues I could of taken and there was just too much choice! Every time I sat down to start the design I just couldn’t get it! Then a few weeks ago I came across an old VHS of our first ever trip to Magic Kingdom. I watched the entire video (all six hours) and said to myself, I just need to keep it simple, what do people think about when they hear Magic Kingdom? Cinderella’s Castle! From that thought I was able to make a start on my plan. I knew I was on the right track as the design just flowed!
The Magic Kingdom in Orlando, Florida, is one of the most inspiring places for Disney fans. I love all the characters from Cinderella to Maleficent. When I was designing my wedding table plan I wanted to incorporate as many Disney images as possible without the plan looking too crowded and over the top. In the end I settled for the classic Cinderella Castle, the most popular couples and of course Mickey and Minnie Mouse! Oh and who could forget little Tinkerbell, yes she managed to sneak in there too!
For Weddings in the UK you can ask your venue if they would be willing to help dress the rooms into a Disney style for you. If you are lucky enough to get married in Florida then sit back and relax, they will have everything covered for you! There are many blogs available on Twitter and Google to choose from that will help explain what is involved in getting married in Magic Kingdom, Orlando. I would definitely read up on real life wedding blogs as it’s always good to hear from someone who has actually been there.
Two years ago my husband and I decided to take our two little girls, the oldest was 3 and the youngest was not quite 1. We travelled with Virgin and they were fab! They gave us special seats with lots of leg room (play room) and a travel cot-bed. Nine hours on the plane does seem like a very long time with two little ones but with naps, food and on-board TV entertainment, the flight seemed to pass quite quickly.
Whether you are tying the knot in the UK or Florida you can have your dream table plan. For the overall design of the table plan, you can use the current couple’s style or individual characters such as Dumbo, Jiminy Cricket, Tinkerbell, Bambi, Archimedes the owl or my own personal favourite Madam Mim (gotta love her) There is also the option of choosing animal duos, Lady and the Tramp, Simba and Nala, The Fox and the Hound, Pongo and Purdy from 101 Dalmations this list is endless.
One of my ideas was to design the plan using the main film poster images, this is another option if you can’t decide on your favourite characters then this might be more appealing to you. I can use the same sketch effect of the film covers as the current design.
The beauty of my wedding table plans is that when your big day is over you can have them framed and hung or just hung in your home. They are not only beautiful to look at but they are a reminder of all the special people that were able to attend your wedding day. What a lovely picture to show and tell the grandkids when then come over to play. This is what Disney is all about, in a nutshell, memories!
Over the years Disney have created many memorable films and characters, but something even bigger than this is their music! Fans all over the world will be able to hear the first few notes of any Disney track and be able to tell you the film and the character singing. Why not have your favourite song as your first dance (as my husband and I did) we waited until the dance floor was surrounded by all of our special guests and then “I know you, I walked with you once upon a dream” started to play. Of course all of my friends and family knew I was Disney crazy but this made them all cheer, scream and clap, it was very emotional!
There are so many songs that you can choose from.
Music for walking down the isle:
Cinderella – so this is love
Beauty and the Beast – tale as old as time
Robin Hood – love goes on and on
The Nightmare before Christmas – meant to be
The Little Mermaid – part of your world
Frozen – love is an open door
To your first dance:
Sleeping Beauty – I know you
Peter Pan – the second star to the right
Pinocchio – when you wish upon a star
The Little Mermaid – kiss the girl
Aladdin – a whole new world
Lady and the Tramp - bella note
The Lion King – can you feel the love tonight
Music for your reception is very important too. A pianist could play a range of soft Disney tracks in the background adding that classical feeling you get from a piano but still the Disney element with the tune. Violins, harps and clarinets are also very popular musical instruments to have at a wedding reception. They all create a relaxed, sophisticated ambience which is lovely to have whilst family and friends are meeting and greeting one another.
I would recommend going through as many films as you possibly can to get the best idea of the music you would like for your special day. If you get it right then it will make the atmosphere even more magical!
You could look at hiring a caricaturist for your guests. They are very skilled artists who will wonder around your venue picking out guests and drawing them in a Disney style. This always causes a stir and gets a lot of laughs.
Thank you for taking the time to read my blog post...
