As you may already know I started The Wedding Parcel the year my husband proposed to me 2009. I had an idea of which designs I wanted to create but I was very new to this creative world. My first real design inspiration came on my honeymoon in York city. We were wondering round the city enjoying the sights when we came across the most beautiful street “the shambles”. The most crooked street I had ever seen with bags of character.

Half way down the street there was a bit of commotion, members of the public were gathering outside one of the shop windows. It was freezing cold and I can remember thinking it must be something spectacular to make people just stand still gawping in this cold weather. As we came closer I could understand what all the fuss was about. The entire window was full of Robins. This gave me the idea of designing my “Christmas Robins” wedding table plan, which is always very popular during winter time.

Another time inspiration knocked on my door was in 2017. Up until this point I was not a fan of alcohol. Yes, I would indulge in a sherry at Christmas time and the odd PIMMS in the summer, but I was never really a big drinking fan. My husband and I were out in our local The Black Star, one Christmas and I can remember saying “I don’t fancy wine or sherry or OJ, I won’t bother having a drink” my husband then made the biggest mistake of his life by saying “why don’t you try a gin?”

I took some convincing but in the end I tried a Beefeater gin. OMG!!!!!! That was it, no more taxi driving for me, Tom had to take his turns when we went out, it was the end for him! LOL! Since that day I have happily tried everything from London dry gin to flavoured gin. Along the way I made some very lovely friends these included Cuckoo, Tiger, Manchester, Sipsmith, Daffy’s, Slingsby and of course Conker. Anyway, back to the blog, my love for gin was so great that I decided to create a gin themed wedding table plan. A huge success not just in the summer but all year round.

My husband and I regularly have friends round for “games night”! We play all the standard card games along with popular board games. Monopoly, Shout and Bingo are some of our favourites. Knowing how much we love these games and our friends I thought it would be a good idea to create a table plan that couples can change to fit it with their world. Monopoly is perfect for this; you can have all the spaces names after your local streets or indeed anything you like. Not only is the plan eye-catching on the wedding day but it’s a lovely thing to frame and keep forever.
